UMBRA ET IMAGO

A brief history of the band...

The band was founded in 1991 and initially experimented with several types of music including Gothic, EBM and New Wave. Soon their music included a "vampiric" theme as well.

Umbra et Imago was the first German indie band to deal with the topic of S/M in their music, and were pioneers for other groups. In 1992 - "Tr?ume, Sex und Tod" - was released. It received an enthusiastic response and the band was invited to the ZILLO-Festivals that same year.

This was just the beginning and in 1993, the band became very popular with the goth scene.

When their second album - "Infantile Spiele" - was released in 1993, the song "Gothic Erotic" became a huge hit in "scene discos" in Europe.

In 1993 at the ZILLO-Open-Airs, 7,000 concert goers were treated to a fantastic fetish performance by Mozart. The band provided the crowd with a memorable concert.

Umbra et Imago released a live video shortly after this concert to appease their growing list of fans.

During their 1994 spring tour they introduced the CDS "Remember Dito".

While Umbra et Imago took a break during the summer 1994, Mozart started working on an independent project titled - "DRACUL".

"Gedanken eines Vampirs" was released in 1995, With more of an accent on guitars, this album's style borrows from both goth and goth metal.

After this, the CDS "Sex Statt Krieg" was released so the fans wouldn't have to wait so long for the next album.

"Mystica Sexualis" was released next in 1996.

"Kein Gott und Keine Liebe" was released in May, 1997 and, in addition to the title song, also contained two brand-new songs and a 97 remake of "Kleine Schwester". The female lead singer from "Fading Colours", De Coy, contributed to this album.

"The Hard Years" was released on November 7, 1997. It was a limited edition CD and only 5,000 copies were made available. In January 1998, the video for "The Hard Years" was released featuring concert footage from the tours in 1996-97.

"Machina Mundi" was released May 8, 1998. It contained some of the band's most innovative material to date. Even harder and tighter than before, but no less thrilling. This album adds another 11 songs to the band's repetoire.

"Dracul" - "Spechiel und Blut" - was released in 2000.

In April, 2000, came the release of "Mea Culpa".

Cine a spus ca femeile nu pot desfasura multe din actiunile intreprinse de barbati? Ba pot, si uneori chiar mai bine, cu mai mult succes, decat o fac barbatii. Asta nu inseamna ca orice femeie se poate apuca sa schimbe carburatoare sau sa taie lemne la circular, dar la astea nici macar toti barbatii nu se pot lauda ca se pricep. In schimb, cand vine vorba de operatiuni ce necesita finete si precizie, femeile sunt pricepute, si nu este vorba de lacuit unghii sau tocat patrunjel pentru supa, ci despre precizia in crima si tortura. Istoria a consemnat multe femei odioase, ascunse sub aparente diafane si inselatoare, iar unele dintre ele au umplut de invidie si respect crminali reputati.

Elizabeth Bathory, Erzsebet, pe numele de sorginte maghiara, nascuta in 1560 (sau 1561), a fost o contesa nascuta in Ungaria, provenind dintr-o familie foarte puternica si instarita, printre care, un cardinal, o printesa, un var, prim ministru al Ungariei si cel mai cunoscut membru, Istvan Bathory, print al Transilvaniei, Mare Duce al Lituaniei si incoronat rege al Poloniei sub numele de Stefan Batory. Stramosii familiei Bathory, clanul Gutkeled, au poposit in regatul Ungariei pe la mijlocul secolului al XI-lea. Puterea lor se intindea pe vaste teritorii, ceea ce azi este Polonia, Ungaria, Slovacia si Romania. Numele de Bathory, ce semnifica viteaz, brav, a fost asumat de o sub-familie a clanului Gutkeled. Familia Bathory a atins apogeul puterii pe la mijloculul secolului al XVI-lea, pentru a se stinge definitiv in 1680.

Acu... ce sa mai zic...? Tot ce a depins de noi, am facut. Restul tine de fiecare din voi pentru ca, in functie de cum va iesi azi, vom decide daca merita sa continuam cu treburi de genul asta sau nu.

Oricum, va asteptam azi la singurul party din Bucuresti cu EBM, Industrial, Noise, Power-noise si alte asemenea.
